ProMeasure.

Any Ingredient. Any Recipe.

Smart ingredient measuring tool, centralising recipes and automating menial tasks with unparalleled accuracy and reproducibility.

Iterations of the outer casing were made as a response to developments in mechanisms, electronics and user feedback. Ergonomic and size requirements resulted in a handle being added to the container, and changed the container removal point from the top to the side.

DFMA considerations are evident throughout casing and body design. Injection moulding analysis was thoroughly conducted on each component, considering thickness, draft angles and undercuts. This enabled a simple assembly process, through the use of bosses snap fits and screws.

Through interacting with a touch screen, users were able to select recipes which resulted in a linear actuator changing the container volume. All electronics were controlled using a Raspberry Pi with the code being written independently to meet functional objectives.

Processes such as SLA printing and laser cutting were used in the manufacture of a functioning prototype. FDM 3D printing was used to address warping issues that arose due to thermal reshaping of acrylic casing panels.

Users were interviewed in order to establish an ideal UX process for measuring ingredients, leading to app prototypes being created and refined in Figma. The final prototype was developed as a Web-App using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, to allow for functionality with the rest of the product. The UI was designed to be simple and easy to use, in line with Braun’s design language.
